Mercury Summer Makeover Launches

10 Jun 2015

Ravenswood School is delighted to announce that the North Somerset Mercury is launching a very special campaign to help us - the Mercury Summer Makeover.

The newspaper is bringing together an army of volunteers from local businesses, clubs and charities, residents and parents to embark on this special project - to refurbish the school.

Working with the school, the paper plans to bring a band of helpers onto the school site during the summer holidays - from July 20 - to 'makeover' the Primary Department - known as the Annexe.

The North Somerset Mercury says "The school has 112 students, all with a range of complex needs from autism to communication difficulties.  It is a fantastic asset to the community.  A safe and caring haven for these special children who need extra support.  Ravenswood has a team of dedicated and caring staff, supportive parents and a committed parents association.  But the building itself, particularly the primary department, which caters for children aged between four and 11, is in desperate need of some TLC."

Classrooms need re-painting, ceilings need mending and furniture replacing.  The plumbing needs upgrading and bookshelves and new study areas need to be built.  Fencing needs to go up, brambles need to be cleared and gardens need to be tended.

And that's where you can help...

This project is about the community helping the community and and we want to hear from anyone who can help us.

     • Are you a community group, charity, sports club, business or individual who has a few hours to spare this summer?

     • Would you like to make a donation - either cash, equipment or materials - towards the cost of the refurbishment?

     • Or perhaps you can offer a prize for our grand charity auction, the proceeds of which will go to support the project.

We are looking for contributions, big or small.  Every single penny and hour donated will go towards improving the learning environment for our children.
