Iles Kitchen
We're extremely lucky to have our Iles Kitchen, which is located in our Post 16 department and provides practical learning opportunities for our students. The kitchen is run by Teaching Assistants Charmaine Willcox and Wendy Galway and together with two different students each day they cook school dinners for the Post 16 department four days a week (the other day the students go to college).
One student will make the main meal and the other will make the dessert, both supported by Wendy and I. The students then help to cook the meals and serve it to their friends and teachers. Charmaine Willcox
On the first Friday of each month they supply jacket potatos or baguettes to staff. Currently, staff shop for the ingredients locally but we are planning for students to be involved at this stage in the future. The students do valuable work experience in the Iles Kitchen towards their Asdan and Employability qualification. In 2022 the hygiene rating for the Iles Kitchen is 5.
