As we start a new academic year pupils are keen to participate in an after school sports club again. It is a great opportunity to play different games use new equipment and work with students from all Key Stages.
At the Changes for Life Sports Club pupils are asked what games they would like to play; there is frequently a link between the chosen activities and those being taught in PE lessons or from Intra Activities. This term football remains a firm favourite, followed by parachute games, bowling, curling, cricket, golf and circuits. It has been lovely for some of the older students to use their leadership skills and suggest activities to play and then lead them with the younger students.
IMPACT: It is fantastic to see the pupils so engaged in all the activities. Skill levels and levels of fitness are improved, pupils learn to work with new friends from different key stages and modify games to suit the needs of all. Self-confidence and self-esteem are nurtured and the older pupils have leadership opportunities.
