Ravenswood can deliver high quality training to your school or MAT.

 

Our training sessions can be delivered as twilights or inset day sessions at your school.  We offer bespoke training sessions for schools or other organisations who would like training around SEND - e.g. Communication, behaviour support, ASD strategies etc.  We are able to provide consultancy work to support with individual pupils or small groups of pupils and to help develop strategies to support within the classroom.  If you would like further information around any of these please contact:

Positive Behaviour Management Strategies

 

This one day course covers...

 

  • The use of the traffic lights system for managing behaviours in and out of the classroom.
  • How to create 3 or 5 point scale feelings charts and how to use these to help pupils learn to regulate their own emotions / behaviour.
  • How to write and use Social Stories to support pupils to manage anxieties around changes, or to help them understand social conventions.
  • How to write Consistent Handling Plans / Risk Assessments to support the management of a pupil’s behaviours.

Symbol Exchange Communication Training

 

2-hour twilight course

 

The session aims to help practitioners...

 

  • Know how to use symbol exchange system to enhance pupil voice, encourage communication attempts and prompt spontaneous speech for pupils with Autism or social communication difficulties.
  • Understand the different phases of symbol exchange and know how to support pupils to develop these skills.

Task Analysis

 

This twilight session covers...

 

• How to break down a task into smaller, more manageable chunks.
• How to use this approach to teach a pupil with ASD or similar a skill that is too challenging to teach all at once.
• How to teach self help or other adaptive skills.

Promoting Communication & Independence

Schools' Mental Health Awareness Training

 

This one day course covers...

 

  • The skills and confidence to identify and support young people with the early signs of  mental health issues.
  • How to promote positive wellbeing, and reduce the stigma of mental health in schools.
  • How to provide early intervention to prevent a mental health issue from deteriorating through the 5 step action plan to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • How to support and offer guidance to help a young  person access the  help or support they need.
  • How to support pupils showing early signs of anxiety and depression; psychosis and suicidal behaviour; self harm and eating disorders.
